Adult Life

After graduating from high school, I enlisted into the United States Air Force. I spent six weeks at basic training at Lackland AFB, TX from December 1986 to February 1987, and then went to technical school for nine weeks at Keesler AFB, MS from February to April 1987. While there, I was part of the morning flag detail, resposible for raising the flag at the start of each day.

I then moved on to my first and only duty assignment at Langley AFB, VA, which just happened to be where I was born, and where my father was also actively assigned. We even worked in the same building for the last several months prior to his retirement.

At the end of my first four-year term, I reinlisted for another four years. Within one year of that I received a job offer from Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. Desert Storm had just ended, so the military was granting early releases to members with under six months remaining. I still had more than three years remaining, but was still able to get approval for an early release.

In October 1991 I was granted an Honorable Discharge, and moved to the Baltimore, MD region. Within one year of leaving the Air Force, I received an Air Force Achievement Medal for meritorious service.

In my first three years in Maryland, I lived in Columbia, Eldersburg, and Ellicott City.

In 1994, I met my beautiful wife, Mary Weber. We were married in February 1995. In our time together, we've lived in Ellicott City, Perry Hall, White Marsh, and finally Dundalk.

We had our terrific dog Molly with us from 1997 to 2007. We still, and always will, have fond memories of her. She was very special to us, and is still missed very much.

We finally stopped being renters, and settled on our first house on September 23, 2016. It's a single family home with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a dining room, and a large laundry/utility room. It's all on a single floor, over a shallow crawlspace. It also has a 1.5 car detached garage.

We adopted two four year old mutts (Roscoe and Jacky) on December 26, 2016, and they have a page off of our main page.
